Norman Fire Responds to Apartment Fire at 2200 Classen Blvd

The Norman Fire Department was dispatched to a reported fire at an apartment complex in the 2200 block of Classen Boulevard at 2:41 p.m. today. Upon arrival, firefighters found visible flames and heavy smoke coming from an apartment in the complex. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire keeping it to the apartment of origin.

The initial investigation shows that the fire started in the apartment’s utility closet where the hot water heater and heating and air conditioning unit are housed. The fire and smoke caused limited damage to the apartment of origin. The building’s fire sprinkler was activated causing water damage to two units in the building.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. No injuries were reported.
