Can I burn brush in my back yard in town?
No. Burning is only allowed in rural areas for land clearing purposes
Can I burn Trash?
No. Burning of trash is not allowed.
How late in the day can I start burning?
Fires must be out 3 hours prior to sunset, so it depends on the size of the pile. Generally fires should not be started after 2pm.
How much does a burn permit cost?
Burn permits are free.
Can I receive a citation for burning without a permit?
What is the phone number to call in for a burn permit?
You can call 292-9780 weekdays, or 321-1444 weekends for a permit.
How long is my burn permit valid?
Burn permits expire each day 3 hrs. prior to sunset.
What if I want to have a bonfire for my social event?
Bonfires are a special circumstance and MUST be permitted through the Fire Prevention @ 292-9780. You should apply for a bonfire permit at least one week prior to your event.
